There’s been a lot of fairytale retellings over the last few years, from Beauty and the Beast, to Swan Lake and now, apparently, The Goose Girl, an underrated yet intriguing fairytale which has always been one of my favourites.
On first impression, Thorn has some beautifully descriptive writing, although the writing style does seem rather basic. I also haven’t warmed to the main character within the first two chapters, but hopefully the story will start to get more gripping and engaging and give the MC a more rounded and complex personality.
The book cover is, however, stunning. The team at Hot Key always know how to design a gorgeous book cover.
