I was looking forward to this book as the blurb, the tagline and the cover image made it seem like it would be right up my street. Unfortunately, I found the First Impression to be told at such a slow pace that I struggled to fully engage with the character or her situation. So much so when she escapes her home for some much needed time to think and she starts to commune with a spirit I lost interest more or less completely - I think if it had been anything but the Wind that was supposedly communicating with her it wouldn't have bothered me but for her to believe that the wind doing what it does was in some way a form of communication put me right off.

Funny how small details can spoil something for you. Small details that no doubt have little consequence to the tale but are enough to make me put it down as probably not for me. Might purchase it if it was on sale at a good discount but I wouldn't seek it out as a read
