The author has done a great job introducing the politics and the characters. The motives of the King are mysterious and I want to know what they are. You can really feel the tension building whenever her brother is near and I would be interested to know more about why he treats her the way he does. The casual introduction of a magical element also adds to the intrigue. I really need to know what is going to happen and what the characters' plans are.
