I'm usually a fan of fantasy fiction and magic etc etc. but I found no part of this first impression remotely interesting.
The protagonist seemed a bit cliched and there wasn't much too really to talk about.
Whilst the setting of the castle was well done, and the start of the fantasy kingdom politics was good, but I didn't find myself draw into the lead character or the emerging story at all,Seemed a fair bit too simple really. I get the sense it may well be more romantically leaning than some sort of epic fantasy and really it made me yawn rather than wanting to read more.
