I enjoyed Thorn even more than I was expecting. It was around 450 pages long but I gobbled it up as it is quite an easy read.
The main character Alyrra who we later know as Thorn is brilliant. Kind, caring and willing to do anything for those she loves. She isnt fierce or has unreachable qualities but that is what I loved about her.
Thorn is a retelling of the goose girl which I will be honest and say I had never heard of. It is a story of magic, betrayal and justice. The side characters, especially those at the stables filled my heart with warmth. The threat of The Lady was always felt and I never knew where the storyline would go.

It is a slow building story which I actually liked. It is an "all guns blazing" kind of book l, but there was a quiet brilliance about it that I thought really shone. The writing was perfect and the author has a great way of making you feel many emotions.
This is the start of a series and I look forward to seeing how it continues.
It is brilliant and I really recommend it.
