This story is based on 'The Goose Girl' by The Brothers Grimm and contains elements of corruption, magic and hope.

The central character is Princess Alyrra who is constantly belittled by her brother, the prince especially because she is honest. Her mother, the queen dowager and regent of the kingdom of Adania, only wants to do what's best for the family and the Kingdom. As a result, Alyrra becomes betrothed to a unjust prince in a faraway kingdom.

Despite the warnings she had received by a sorcerer, Alyrra travels to Menaiya so she can get married to Prince Kestrin with the blessings of their parents. However, danger lurks in her travels as Menaiya is a kingdom feared by so many and as a result it has many enemies who want to end this allegiance.

In the story, Alyrra continues to grow as a character even when she is faced with a difficult dilemma. Her journey takes her on an unexpected turn.

I chose to read this as I found the storyline similar to 'A throne of swans,' which I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked the front cover and the synopsis. I liked how the story is written in the first person so that you can get a better understanding into Alyrra. I felt the dialogues made you understand other characters more.
