Thorn is a wonderfully crafted retelling of the lesser known Goose-Girl fairytale. It wasn’t a story that I was familiar with, but after doing some research I knew I simply had to read Thorn. A case of stolen identities and betrayals, Thorn follows a mistreated princess who escapes her cruel family to travel to the foreign lands of her betrothed. However, while she manages to escape her family’s malice, the road ahead is far from easy. Stripped of her role as princess, Alyrra is thrust into a completely difference life full of perils and new friendships. It is a beautifully written story, one that’s full of intrigue and some harsh realities. I couldn’t put this down and loved every bit of it, although some parts I wish didn’t happen, but I think its presence highlighted the brutality of the world that we were introduced to. A definite 5/5 stars! This would be a compelling movie!
