From the prologue alone, it is undeniable that this book follows a strong female character in her endeavours of dealing with the inevitable future that is forced upon her. However, when life takes a turn and she is given the option of stepping into a world where she is no longer expected to be the princess she has been forced to be her whole life, she finds herself wondering. As it is a retelling of the fairytale Goose Girl, the magical elements feel very homely and familiar. This seems like a perfect book to delve into on a cold afternoon in autumn. Written by a Muslim woman, it is refreshing to read a novel that is not plagued with the stereotypes that often find themselves in books written by muslim authors. This will definitely be a world I’m excited to dive into and explore. An endearing tale and definitely one I hope to read the rest of soon!
