Absolutely loved it! We follow Alyrra as she is betrothed to a Prince in a far away land. Since her father died she has had no real compassion from her family, she has no qualms with leaving them far behind but has formed tight friendships with staff in her household that she will miss dearly. Along the way to her new home her travelling companion assists a magical force by swapping bodies with Alyrra leaving her to become a goose girl and live in a small shared house outside the palace, but isn’t this the life she dreamed of? Escaping her responsibilities and doing good honest work?

Alyrra was so well written, even when switching bodies she was still clear and directed. She was consistent with her actions and was honest with her emotions, it made her so likeable and I loved her for it. As the book progressed there was steady development that kept me engaged and I was not disappointed. Every turn brought new challenges for Alyrra but the author managed to create a good diverse amount of events that didn’t feel repetitive and all the characters were very well developed.

At parts this tore at my heart strings and made me upset just because of the topics it touched on, but the author touched on them delicately and with the perfect level of finesse - nothing felt forced into the plot for the sake of exposure.

My only gripe is that the ending was a little rushed, a lot happened in the last couple of chapters but I do like how the book was left a little open, although the chapters of that story have closed there seems to be a possibility for a sequel and I’d jump STRAIGHT into that
