I read quite a lot of these types of books (young adult.. fantasy) and had an idea what this would be like but it proved me wrong- in a good way. A twist I didn't see coming and a satisfying (but not necessarily typical) ending meant that I was kept interested all the way through. I liked the main character particularly, she was quite a well rounded character. The supporting characters were good and really added to the story and the development of the main character although one part of the storyline was really sad!
The writing style was good although at times quite intense and I had to work to follow it, but once I got into it I enjoyed it. Overall I enjoyed this book and finished it in a couple of days as I was keen to find out the ending. Would recommend!
