I found this book to be a very original and imaginative retelling of the fairytale the goose girl and I knew immediately from the excerpt that I would like the characters and the writing style. I must say that I am most disappointed that this doesn’t seem to be a series and I that I won’t hear more from Alyrra. The criticism I have is simply that I would’ve liked the romantic aspect to be more explored - however that is a more personal preference because I’m a sucker for romance. It was extremely well written, well balanced and realistic. Alyrra was demure but strong, unique but personable and I found the Lady to be quite an interesting ‘villain’ and the discourse on murder was so deep but without being too much. I really can’t say enough good about this.
