I found the the plot of Thorn to be interesting however it was the magic system that captured my attention. I really enjoyed Alyrra's personality throughout the story. I appreciated how Alyrra was honest and owned up to her 'faults' without being ashamed of herself. As a retelling of goose girl it matches up pretty well, whilst also being able to take an interesting and engaging spin on the tale. I liked seeing Thorn (Alyrra) grow throughout the book and see her question herself but ultimately stick by her beliefs and stand up for herself and what she knows is right. I found the discussion of justice, morals and empathy in Thorn very compelling and I am looking forward to the next instalment of this series! My only issue would be that the blurb places an emphasis on the romance however it is only a brief subplot with the emphasis on justice intead.
