I was immediately drawn to the text through the use of present tense - bestowing it with a completely different dynamic to other books I've read. Though i'd usually find this style harder to follow, I found this extract flowed very eloquently and was very digestible. I think there was a great balance of description and dialogue, and I have grasped an outline of each of the characters just from this extract.
This evidently falls under fantasy/ya category, a very popular genre (and my personal favourite) and so I am sure that other readers will find it just as enjoyable as I have, from these few pages, and I believe this plot has the ability to be celebrated world wide.
Now lets talk about the cover! This (and the title) was probably what caught my eye. I love the use of block colours and the simplicity of it, while also painting a hint of what the book has to uncover.
