Other than some small errors within the sentences I was intrigued by the story. The coldness of the princesses family and the mentions of what shes done in the past makes the reader want to find out what happened before the story began. The style is good overall and feels like you are living the events along side the main character.
The build up to the magic drives the story. As other than a throw away mention of witch magic has not been mentioned yet. although the story could have some triggers for people who have been physically abused. The abuse does feel like a integral part of the story hopefully we find out the reasons behind the abuse from her brother and the coldness from her mother.
I do like the descriptions of the soldiers and kings and nobles I would love more of a description on the princesses appearance for the over all picture.
