Wow, I haven't read a book that fast or intensely for what feels like a very long time! I loved this twist on a fairytale I knew very little about (and have subsequently researched). The main character goes on a lovely journey of self-descovery and growth and the prince is a suitably mysterious and simultaneously alluring character. The world it build felt very authentic and I will definately be reading the sequel(s) very soon. Without spoiling it for future readers, I will just say that there are a few questions at the end left unanswered but open and I very much like that. It feels more realistic than if it had been tied up neatly as per a traditional fairytale, but that's the beauty of a subverted retelling. I am aware this is beginning to sound like it's written in code so I will end by saying that the cover is *stunning* and if that doesn't convince you to read it, I don't know what will.
