A foreign prince asks for Princess Alyrra's hand in marriage, to which she agrees in order to escape the cruelty of her mother and brother. Her maid uses magic to switch bodies with the princess as she begins her journey to meet her supposed future husband. This comes to shock the princess, as she must decide between living a new life or to get married to prince Kestrin, but she eventually learns to love simplicity. The prince does pick up the mismatch between their identities, and they are left to make decisions for the safety of their lives.
What I loved the most was seeing how Alyrra's personality unfolded throughout the novel, as she learns to face her fears to become a stronger individual. Intisar Khanani is an amazing author and I look forward to reading other books from her in the future.
