This is a classic love story, princess betrothed to a prince. The protagonist is treated cruelly by her family and agrees to an arranged marriage to escape them. But en route to her new home a sorceress swaps her body with a sworn enemy. This is when the story gets really interesting and involves magic and fantasy. The high born princess ends up becoming a goose girl and loves her new role. She makes friends with other servants and becomes part of a family. She has the freedom to move around a city and get involved in its beating heart. She learns lots of new skills and grows and becomes an adult. It is at this point that she needs to put herself in danger and put all she has built on the line to save the prince. A thoroughly gripping read, a coming of age story and a fantasy book for adults. I cant recommend it enough!
