This book is a retelling of the fairytale the goose girl but the author definitley turned it into something new that I absolutley adored. I was excited about this book from the get go but I didn't think I'd end up loving it as much as I did. The book was extremely enchanting and very atmospheric and I fet myself getting wrapped up into the world. The main character is Princess Alyrra who is very different from most ya protagonists in the best way, the plot is very character-driven so this was very important but the author very much succeeded in that sense and Alyrra was probably my favourite character, she is very strong, kind hearted and very sensible. The found family trope is one of my favourites and I love the one present in this book however objectively the other characters were nowhere near as developed as the protagonist but I still loved them. The book tackles some difficult topics such as domestic abuse but does so with grace and empathy. I also loved the magical elements of this story"
