Despite his flaws, I closed the last page of Troll with the utmost respect for Mr Fortune and his determination to save his daughter at any cost. This was quite the turnaround from the opinion I had of him in the beginning, where money and his career seemed to surpass his desire to be a good husband and father. I was therefore able to follow him throughout the novel on his journey of self-learning and his realisation that love should come before everything else, which made the ending of the book all the more poignant.

David Thorne's writing style is easy to follow and keeps the story fast-moving yet retains its mystery until the final page. As the chapters progressed and more information was released about Sophie's disappearance, I found it harder and harder to put the book down! The identity of the online troll makes for a fantastic storyline, and I found myself playing along with 'The Game' alongside Mr Fortune and Sophie to try and work out who the troll was.

Overall, I would highly recommend Troll as a novel of mystery, crime, and above all a touching tale of a relationship between father and daughter.
