Thrillers are my favourite type of novels and when I picked this one up in a sale I was a happy bunny.
And as I read, I was taken away by a modern story and relatable protagonists, paired with a sophisticated writing style.
I loved it right through to the ending, which was unbelievable and unimpressive, with an antagonist whose motivation is absurd and a climax that is highly unnecessary. It tries to be emotional, but is too unrealistic for me to care.
I am awarding this book three stars, two taken away for a disappointing ending. This saddens me, because such an enthralling and gripping first half is very hard to find and therefore deserved a much more glowing review.
However I am satisfied that the problem was with the story and not the author who proved themself you be extremely talented. I would love to read more of their work.
