I'm afraid I found the narrator rather irritating in her determination to be miserable, full of self-pity and strangely rather proud of being 'a failure'. I'm sure the idea is that she'll have some kind of turnaround or reality check that makes her change but I don't think the book would retain my interest long enough to see if I'm right.
