I was absolutely gripped from the first page. This is a great read from start to finish. Effie is very believable. She's not perfect, but that - and her insecurities- make her all the more appealing as our heroine. There were lots of strands to the story - her often frustrated relationship with her mum, her aspirations as a novelist, her job in a bookshop (which sounds a perfect place for any bibliophile!). Above all else, there is her relationship with Theo. Without offering spoilers I laughed, I aaaaaahhhed and yes, I did cry.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book. It's perfect escapism in the current climate - and my word does it grip you .... poignant, moving and truly lovely.
