I found this book very negative and me me me at the beginning however I am pleased that I persevered with it as Effie became a more likeable character as the story went along. Effie drinks too much, hates herself and still lives at home with her parents. In her late twenties she has a job that's going nowhere and a best friend that's moving on up. Effie first meets Theo while on a mismatched date with someone who wishes they'd swiped the other way. Effie is not in the right place emotionally to meet someone and that is when Theo walks into her life. Nothing was ever going to be straightforward for this relationship but the secret that one of them holds has the potential to tear them apart. A great read if you like Jojo Moyes.
