I understand that not everyone will like this book. The main character, Effy, is very pessimistic with low self-esteem and an all round bad attitude. Not everyone will fall for Effy the way I did.. but boy, did I. She’s flawed and awful at times, but she’s also so relatable and human. I was rooting for her the whole way through. I desperately wanted her to learn her self-worth.

Effie and Theo have such a cute relationship, with Theo always striving to bring out the best in Effie. He’s charming and lovely and I’m not surprised that Effie fell as hard as she did.

The second half of the book did lose me a little. It became less about the relationship and more about Effies personal growth. That was obviously needed, and I did love seeing her learn to love herself, but I really missed the romantic aspects of the book. The ending was sweet though, so I’ll forgive it for that.
