Really enjoyed this book! Effie and Theo's characters are so lovable. This is a book about the romance that sparks between them as their paths cross. At first, I felt that I would not like Effie, but as the story unfolded I began to admire her for her wittiness. The two of them meet as wounded individuals, so it was nice to see how their personalities both developed over time. At times I wanted to laugh and at times the story made me sad, so definitely felt a mixture of emotions. There are twists within the novel, when it seems like the romance will bloom further, but I like that it wasn't predictable.
This book also explores the topic of alcoholism and makes you understand why it is a resort for people to 'escape' from life's issues. Overall an enjoyable read and I would recommend!
