I ended up liking this book a lot more than I thought I would and was pleasantly surprised. At first Effie seemed a very annoying character, always moaning about life , she appeared very angry and didn't think she was good enough . This very nearly put me off as I was after more of a feel good read but at the same time I was keen to see how the story went and i'm glad I persevered! She grew into a likeable, relatable character and reminded me in some ways of a sort of Eleanor Oliphant.
The story is one of self reflection and discovery and about learning to love yourself which is so important now more than ever.
It was a great book to escape into and I would definitely read more from this other in the future.
