This was a nice easy romance read, that I enjoyed a lot.
The story centres around Effie, who finds herself hitting dead ends in all aspects of her life. She dislikes her job, she has no love life of which to speak, and she's increasingly drinking way too much.
Enter our romantic interest, Theo.
Initially he seems like he could be the answer to all of Effie's problems. He's sweet, charming and, although Effie initially struggles to trust him, he proves himself to be consistent and loyal. However, there's just one problem... Theo is hiding a secret of his own, something that could totally change everything and drive Effie away for good.
This was right up my street. Effie is a good central character, full of sarcasm and quite cynical about life. She has a tough exterior, but I felt like it was clear she really wanted someone to love her properly right from the start, and I so wanted to see her get her happy ending. I enjoyed the twists and turns of her romance with Theo. At times I didn't know whether I trusted him either or what I wanted to happen next. Well written!
