In the world we live in today with gun men taking innocent lives, we all have been in tears listening to the devastating news. With this in mind I think the author has been very brave casting a scene full of horror in When Time Runs Out, with leading the reader into why and how such a horrible thing has just happened.
When Aslak was a baby everybody would smile and talk to him, just like people normally do to every baby they see, but however in this story I immediately got that feeling that Aslak must have been a beautiful, cheerful boy. Despite all the sweet and innocence of Aslak he was a loner with no friends, he just didn't mix in with anyone. It isn't long before Aslak turns dangerous he climbs upon the roof of the Glass Palace in Helsinki with a gun. Chaos is about to start as he starts shooting, leaving four people with serious injuries.
The police don't just arrest people, they have to talk people down from buildings and the police here have a hard time trying to talk Aslak down from the building before he shoots anyone else. As time is running out the police call Aslak's mother to help coax her son to climb down from the roof top. Will Aslak give himself up?
