A bit immature

I was excited for this book when I won a copy but I found that it was quite a young read - although the character has just finished doing her GCSEs, the reading age felt a lot more towards the young teen (age 12-14) end of the spectrum. I found Gracie to be quite an immature character to whom I struggled to relate - she didn't have enough of a characterisation to stand out, and there wasn't enough of a plot to make up for that lack. I struggled with Gracie's melodrama - it felt far too exaggerated, and contributed to making her seem a lot younger than her character actually is. However, props to the book for featuring a gay protagonist, especially for a book geared towards younger readers. That's really important! It's just a shame she's so irritating.
