The first impression of this book did start to build a little suspense - a girl has gone missing and we flick between the present and the recent past in order to start to understand what happened just before - but I didn't really get interested in any of the people involved. I felt that too much energy was spent on describing all the expensive and luxurious items in the home and grounds of the lead character, and not enough on characterisation.
